This Privacy Policy explains how Ascella Biosystems, Inc. ("Ascella," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information in connection with this website (ascella.bio, the "Site") and our business activities, and the choices and rights you have.

Ascella Biosystems, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our wholly owned subsidiary, Ascella Bio JAPAN, Inc. (Tokyo, Japan), supports our research, development and business activities in Japan.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you use the contact form or otherwise contact us, we collect your name, email address, company or organization, job title and the content of your message, and any other information you choose to provide.
Business contact information. We collect contact details of people at organizations we work with or may work with, for example through meetings, events, correspondence and contracts.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider records technical information in server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on the Site.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information (such as health information) through the Site. Please do not include it in your message.

Service providers that process information on our behalf and under our instructions, including Amazon Web Services (website hosting), HubSpot, Inc. (contact form and customer relationship management) and Google LLC (web fonts).
Our subsidiary, Ascella Bio JAPAN, Inc., for the purposes described in this policy.
Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Ascella, our personnel or others.
Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business or assets.
With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site does not set its own cookies. The contact form is provided by HubSpot, which may use cookies or similar technologies needed to display the form and process your submission, in accordance with HubSpot's privacy policy. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser information (see Google's privacy policy). Because we do not sell or share personal information or track visitors across other websites, the Site does not respond differently to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals.

6. International Transfers

We operate in the United States and Japan. Personal information may be transferred to, stored in and processed in either country. Where we transfer personal information, we take steps to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law. Ascella Bio JAPAN, Inc. handles personal information in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain business relationships and to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. We then delete or de-identify it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You may ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and you may opt out of receiving communications from us at any time. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

10. Additional Information for California Residents

If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"), applies to our handling of your personal information, this section applies to you.

Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (such as name, email address and IP address); professional or employment-related information (such as organization and job title); internet or other electronic network activity information (such as server log data); and the content of your messages to us. We collect this information from you directly, automatically when you use the Site, and in the course of business with your organization. We use it for the business purposes described in Section 3, and we disclose it for those purposes to the categories of recipients described in Section 4. We keep it for the periods described in Section 7.

How to make a request: submit a request through our contact form and write "Privacy request" at the start of your message. We will verify your request by matching the information you provide with information we hold, and we will respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time as permitted by law. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority and verify your identity directly.

Shine the Light: we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Residents of other U.S. states may have similar rights under their state laws. You can make a request in the same way.

11. Children

The Site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to Other Websites

The Site may link to websites operated by others, including our Japanese subsidiary's website. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.
